The Hirschfeld Building served as
the headquarters of a family printing business for many years,
before which it was a professional baseball field. When the
business grew and moved to a larger facility, the Hirschfelds
donated the alphabet tiles to Graland Country Day
School. Then, the old building was converted into a
Marriott Hotel on Bannock and Speer Blvd. Not wishing to recind
thier gift to Graland, the Hirschfelds asked Rose to
recreate this beautiful bas relief mural, depicting the beginings of
printing and the derivations of our current alphabet, for inclusion
on the new Marriott. |
